Fixed seating means you always dine at the particular fixed time and at the same table. It’s an elegant space to dine in – think white table cloths and blue-and-white Delft china. At the French restaurant (Rudi’s Sel de Mer), for example, you find crusty baguettes garnished with sprigs of fresh rosemary.
Other Holland America deckplans
With comfy navy blue leather armchairs and wide bay windows that allow the light to shine through, it’s the perfect spot for a coffee and cake. Some other HAL ships also have a Tamarind, which serves Asian-influenced dishes. Sometimes, we just wanted something simple, like fresh-cut strawberries and tea, or whole apples and a pitcher of iced water. The grilled lamb chops served during the Captain’s welcome dinner on the second night were a hit with us. Our first couple of nights, we cooled our heels for 30 minutes each time.
Spa & Fitness
While they provide good service and as-expected drinks, guests just don’t seem to congregate around these pool bars making them feel a little sterile. Club Orange Restaurant occupies the area of the former "Culinary Arts Center". Culinary Arts Center was a premium dinner-only restaurant (cover charge $39 pp, unlimited wine included) via partnership with the “Food & Wine Magazine”. This open-kitchen/show-kitchen venue was used daily for professional cooking shows, culinary classes and workshops (cooking and cocktail) presented in demonstration kitchens. In the evenings, the venue transformed into “Dinner at the Culinary Arts Center”.

I sailed roundtrip from Amsterdam with ports of call in Rotterdam and Norway. Holland America’s Rotterdam, delayed by COVID, made her maiden voyage from Amsterdam in October of 2021 and then sailed initially in the Caribbean. In May of 2022, she again sailed from Amsterdam, visiting her namesake city, Rotterdam. Reykjavik was just a small village until seeing a major expansion after World War II, but this popular cruise destination still offers a small town feel different than any other European capital. Tamarind Bar serves the restaurant with cocktails and other beverages. Part of the Tamarind is the Japanese food bar Nami Sushi (capacity 7 seats only, also serving popular Asian spirits). Because Holland America (or HAL for short) has jazzed up its approach to cruising – especially on its latest Pinnacle Class ships. With Rotterdam and the other vessels in the Pinnacle Class, Holland America has managed to please its most loyal demographic while offering plenty to keep younger cruisers satisfied and entertained. Although it doesn't attract large numbers of children, it's absolutely suitable for multigenerational family trips. Entertainment on Holland America ships is generally more subdued than what you might expect when sailing with some other lines, but that doesn't mean it's boring.
